Colvin Hall

The University of Maine and its Honors Program launched an exciting venture in designing, building, and populating a complete living-learning facility for Honors in 1998.  Triggered by the expansion of the Memorial Union and the age of the original Thomson Honors Center, the decision was made to renovate historic Caroline Colvin Hall to house both the Thomson Honors Center and a residence facility for Honors students.  Colvin Hall, named after Caroline Colvin, chair of the history department from 1906 to 1932, was built in 1930 and had previously served as a residence hall for approximately 40 students.
